WHAT CAUSES EPILEPSY?

Unlike other conditions where there is a single and clear cause, epilepsy can develop due to a number of things. People can have a genetic condition or be born with a defect in their brain that causes their epilepsy. In others, a head injury, stroke, or brain tumor may lead them to develop seizures. But in about 50% of people, no clear cause of their epilepsy can be identified.

Red + Blue=Purple Epilepsy Cobblers

Makes 4 individual sized cobblers in small/medium ramekins

FILLING:

1 pint blueberries

1 pint raspberries

1 tsp orange zest

1 T sugar

TOPPING:

1 stick cold butter, cut into small cubes

1 ¼ cup flour

¾ cup brown sugar

½ T cinnamon

½ tsp kosher salt

 OPTIONAL: Vanilla ice cream

Combine berries, zest and sugar in a bowl and then transfer to ramekins. In mixing bowl, combine topping ingredients and use hands to “squish” all ingredients together until mixture is well combined into small pea sized pieces. Top berries with topping and bake in a 375 degree oven for about 30 mins or until tops are golden brown. Let cool and then top with ice cream.
